Addressing the gender pay gap with meaningful change

We have published our 2024 gender pay gap report and, while we acknowledge there is a pay difference between men and women, we are pleased to report that it continues to narrow, dropping 0.6 per cent.

As with the whole of our industry, our workforce continues to be male-dominated, though our focus on gender balance is making an impact. In 2024, we saw a 17% increase in women in top and senior management; 24% more in middle management; and a 2% rise in our total female workforce.

We’re committed to continuing to drive this change, creating more opportunities for women and fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.

Our executive-led Fairness, Awareness, Inclusion and Respect (FAIR) committee helps to drive meaningful change across our organisation and our range of employee networks help to deliver our FAIR aims.

Through initiatives such as our Network of Women (NOW) we provide a platform to facilitate collaboration, discuss challenges and support female colleagues in fulfilling their career goals.

Additionally, through our partnership with Minerals Matter, an industry initiative which aims to inspire the next generation into the quarrying and minerals sector, we hope to encourage more women to pursue careers in the industry and help build a more diverse workforce.

Simon Willis, CEO, said: “We are committed to continuing to improve our position and are working to ensure everyone who works for us, and with us, feels respected and included, regardless of gender or any other characteristic.”
