Smiths Concrete is now fully owned by Heidelberg Materials

Today we have acquired the remaining Smiths Concrete shares not previously in our ownership.

We have been involved with Smiths Concrete, which has its headquarters in Banbury, Oxfordshire, as a minority partner in the joint venture since its inception in 1957. 

Securing complete ownership reflects our long-term commitment to the market and is an important strategic step for us as we seek to strengthen our footprint across Oxfordshire and Warwickshire.

Smiths Concrete operates seven concrete plants, two quarries and an inert landfill site. It will continue to operate as a stand-alone entity and there are no plans currently to change its branding or day-to-day operations.

Gordon Napier, Managing Director of Heidelberg Materials’ UK concrete business, takes responsibility for Smiths Concrete, bringing a stronger alignment between our core business areas.
