Cement FAQs

Learn more about cement below, or visit our cement technical services page for in-depth product information.

What Is Cement?

Cement is a binding material made from a mixture of limestone, clay, and other binders and additives. When mixed with water, it hardens, making it a valuable construction material, used as the glue to hold solid building materials like bricks and slabs together. It can be used across all manner of projects to meet your specifications, including:

  • Foundations
  • Walls and floors
  • Paving and driveways
  • Bridges and infrastructure
  • Roads and motorways
What Is The Difference Between Standard And Specialist Cement?

Standard cement suits most general construction tasks, while bespoke specialist cement is designed for projects requiring specific performance characteristics. For instance, your project might require cement offering greater durability, faster setting times, resistance to harsh environmental conditions, lower CO2 emissions, or waterproofing.

How Should Cement Be Stored?

To ensure your cement performs as designed, it should be stored away from moisture and other products. To prevent moisture ingress, it’s essential to raise the bulk product container off the ground and cover it with a waterproof lining.

How Much Does Cement Cost?

Various factors can impact the cost of cement, including the project, volume, lead time and delivery distance. Our experts can provide you with an accurate quote bespoke to your project - get in touch below or view our pricing guide.
