Investment secures future of our Allington site

We have invested more than £7 million in a new asphalt plant at our Allington site near Maidstone, Kent, to improve our services to customers and secure the long-term future of the site and its employees.

The upgraded plant is now one of the most advanced in Europe and features a range of environmental and technological benefits to increase production capacity, sustainability and efficiency.

It includes the installation of state-of-the-art plant equipment to improve versatility and reliability, allowing us to switch between products more quickly while improving turn-around times and providing our customers with security of supply.

Gareth Day, Hanson UK asphalt managing director, said “This investment is the biggest in our asphalt division in recent years and will result in improved service to our customers as we strive to enhance our product offering, reliability and productivity.

“It increases our production capacity by 250 per cent while also allowing us to reduce energy consumption by a fifth. In addition, CO2 emissions will be lower; we will have the facility to increase the amount of recycled material we use in the asphalt we produce; and the local community will benefit from reduced noise levels.”
