HeidelbergCement claims climate change A-list hat trick

For the third year running, our parent company has been recognised for the action it is taking to reduce its impact on the environment with a place on CDP’s 2021 A-list for climate change.

HeidelbergCement continues to lead the way in the cement sector and is in the top two per cent of global companies, being one of just 272 to achieve the highest rating from almost 12,000 that disclosed their data to the annual questionnaire.

The company was recognised for its actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop the low carbon economy.

“Implementing our carbon reduction roadmaps worldwide and heading the way globally with our ambitious carbon capture, utilisation and storage plans are at the centre of our climate strategy,” said Dr Dominik von Achten, chairman of the managing board of HeidelbergCement.

“Receiving the third consecutive CDP A rating demonstrates our commitment and dedication as we work at all levels to significantly reduce our emissions.”

The 272 companies included in the CDP A-list are considered to be leading on corporate environmental ambitions, actions and transparency worldwide.

CDP is a global environmental non-profit organisation, and its sustainability rating is considered one of the most important for investors and the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. It uses a detailed and independent methodology to assess companies and allocate a score of A to D- based on the depth of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and demonstration of environmental leadership best practice.
