Focus on decarbonising heavy materials at Innovation Zero
Our CEO Simon Willis is leading a 45-minute session looking at what the heavy building materials industry is create a pathway to low carbon infrastructure at this year’s Innovation Zero event.
Innovation Zero, supported by the UK Government, is the UK’s largest sustainability conference and is being held on 30 April and 01 May at Olympia London.
Simon’s session takes place in the Industrial Forum from 14:45 – 15:30 on Tuesday 30 April. It includes a 15-minute presentation where he will discuss the decarbonisation challenge before focussing on decarbonising concrete – the world’s second most used product after water.
He will talk about our involvement in several industry-leading projects such as carbon capture and storage at our Padeswood cement works and trialling hydrogen as a fuel at our Ribblesdale cement works, establishing a pathway to moving away from fossil fuels.
His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion where he will be joined by key contractors, including Rossella Nicolin, Head of Sustainability for Europe at Laing O’Rourke, Andrew Kidd, Director of Environmental Sustainability for Lower Thames Crossing, and David Mason, Head of Environment Technical for Skanska to talk about the importance of low carbon construction materials and supply chain collaboration in delivering net zero infrastructure projects.
